World Cup Tourists Face 'Tipping Fatigue' as U.S. Customs Spark Culture Shock
Foreign soccer enthusiasts coming to the US for the World Cup event are suffering tremendously from "tipping fatigue" and culture shock due to the widespread practice of tipping in the US. People coming from countries such as Australia, Japan, and the UK have complained about the excessive cost of attending the tournament, which is made worse by the expectation to tip 15%-20% of the bill amount even for mundane things such as purchasing bottled water. On the other hand, American bar and restaurant owners have said that tourists from other countries are infamous for not tipping and hence resort to imposing service charges in order to protect themselves and their employees.
